Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, on Wednesday, said she would appeal the court judgment that nullified the governorship primaries of the APC in Adamawa State.

A Federal High Court sitting in Yola, presided over by Justice Abdulaziz Anka, had on Friday declared the gubernatorial primaries of the APC in the state null and void, holding that the party failed to comply with its guidelines and constitutional provisions while conducting the exercise.

Binani, in a statement, Wednesday, said, the judgment, having disqualified the election, has not given the option to the conduct of a fresh primary election of the party, therefore, she will seek judgment that would reaffirm her governorship ticket before the Appeal Court.

Meanwhile, some women in the state have staged a peaceful protest around the state capital over the court’s judgement.

The women, from across the 21 LGAs of the state, marched through the streets, saying that the ruling was a grand conspiracy against women.

They carried placards with inscriptions that include ‘No Binani, no election’, ‘the conspiracy against women is too much’, and ‘It’s Binani we want’.

The leader of the protest, Comfort Ezra, urged all women to stand up for Binani because she is the only gubernatorial hopeful in the whole country.
