Int’ Women’s Day:Adamawa Gov’t Advocates Women Support And Fight Against Gender Violence

The Honorable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Adamawa State Mrs Wunfe Anthony, advocate for women support and end of gender violations against them.

Commissioner made this called ahead of celebration of international womens day 2024.

International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8th, is a global occasion to honour the achievements of women, recognise their contributions to society, and advocate for gender equality.

In 2024, this significant day falls on Friday, providing an opportunity for individuals worldwide to come together and reflect on the progress made towards gender parity while acknowledging the work that remains to be done.

The Honorable Commissioner Ministry for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Wunfe Anthony, has stated that her ministry organized a special jummu’at prayers on Friday 8th March and Church Service on 10th March for the celebration of the day.

She noted that they will also have Street Wall from Flyover to the Ministry of Women Affairs to Murtala Nyako hall and town Hall meeting with women peace and security on 9th of March among others.

The Commissioner also advocated for women support and end of gender violations against them.

The United Nations has designated the year 2024’s theme as ‘Invest in Women Accelerate Progress’ with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is Inspire Inclusion.

It highlights the significance of diversity and empowerment across all sectors of society.
