Adamawa State Praised for Efficient Resource Utilization by Joint Tax Board

The Joint Tax Board (JTB) has lauded the Adamawa State Government for its efficient use of resources intended for public benefit.

This commendation was delivered by JTB Secretary Olusegun Adesokan, who led a delegation to the Government House in Yola on Monday. Adesokan praised the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as a disciplined government that effectively utilizes taxpayers’ money.

The commendation highlighted the state’s infrastructure development as evidence of good governance. Adesokan stated that the JTB’s visit to Adamawa was for regional training on tax business, aimed at enhancing efficient tax collection.

He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to improve tax processes, advocating for a progressive taxation system where the poor pay less and the wealthy and large corporations bear a greater tax burden.

Dr. Edgar Amos expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration with the JTB. He praised the Board’s focus on training and technology and stressed the need to address corruption and close loopholes in tax collection.

According to statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, the training in Yola will cover critical areas such as tax audit, enforcement, and compliance, aiming to strengthen the state’s tax administration system.
