Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the constitution of the 15-man Committee on Fire Disaster at Yola Main Market,Yola South local government area.
This follows the unfortunate fire outbreak that engulfed the Yola main market in the early hours of 15th April, 2024.
The terms of reference of the committee include the following but not limited to ascertaining the level of damage by the fire and to recommend support to the affected persons.
The committee has Commissioner Ministry of Reconstruction,Rehabilitation, Reintegration and Human Services as chairman,Commissioner of Commerce and Industry as Co-chairman.
Other members include National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Yola South District Head, Chairmen Gamzaki Yola South,Rana Ta Fito Yola south, Male and Female representatives of the affected shops as well as security agencies.
The move is aimed at providing support and seeking information to better the life of citizens operating in the market.
Their mandate will take immediate effect from the inauguration of the committee.
