Gov. Fintiri Assured Determination To Promote Peace With Taraba State

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged to collaborate with the Taraba State government to enhance its peace-building initiatives, aiming to improve the quality of life for its citizens.

Governor Fintiri made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the historic Nwonyo Fishing Festival in Taraba State.

The Nwonyo Fishing Festival celebrated in the Ibi local government area of Taraba state spans two days, marking the commencement of the fishing season.

It features aquatic sports, masquerade dances, and traditional entertainment, culminating in an exciting fishing contest on the second day.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri described the event as a force that can bond the society stronger, and promote social cohesion, which was celebrated with great pride over decades, expressing determination to partner with Taraba state in peace-building processes and other developmental strides for the two states to benefit more.

Fintiri therefore commended the jukun nation for their peace enterprise, calling on them to sustain the dynamism of the nwonyo festival and continue supporting the Agbu kefas-led administration for the overall good of the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba state said the event is to revive the ‘Nwonyo festival’ the ancestral heritage of the people that has a very long-standing history.

The governor reassured his commitment to ensuring functional development in the critical sectors, unity and peaceful enterprise in the state that will attract more investment from all quotas.

An elder statesman and a retired Gen, TY Danjuma on the event was delightful of the courage and enthusiastic spirit shown by the people at the festival and called on leaders at all levels to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people.
