Adamawa Gov’t Authorises Contract Change for Major Highway, Finalizes Ultra Modern Stadium Completion

During its 5th meeting in 2024, the Adamawa State Executive Council approved an additional 18.8 billion naira for extended work on the super highway stretching from FGGC Yola to AA Lawan junction via Rumde Kila. This meeting, held urgently and led by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola, also sanctioned over 4 billion naira to complete the Jimeta permanent stadium.

Mrs. Neido Geoffrey Kufoltu, the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, informed journalists after the meeting that the increase in the scope of work on the super highway led to the revised contract sum now totaling 40.6 billion naira. Additionally, the council authorized the formal transfer of the C of O of the Federal Medical Centre, Hong, to the Federal Ministry of Health, to ensure the facility’s operational readiness for public benefit.

In its commitment to engaging youth, fostering peaceful coexistence, and curbing youth unrest, the administration sanctioned a further 4.7 billion naira for finishing the ultra-modern stadium. Mrs. Kufoltu noted that the council’s approval of a 450 million naira grant as counterpart funding for the Global Fund initiative is set to draw in 15 billion naira, aiding approximately 270,000 women in the state.

Moreover, Emmanuel Piridimso, the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, highlighted the council’s commitment to fiscal discipline, stating that 18.2 billion naira had been approved against the 2023 fiscal year’s budget. This marks the closure of the budget year and sets expectations for a more successful fiscal year ahead.
