The government of Adamawa State has urged vendors at the Yola market to cooperate with the upcoming market remodeling initiative. This appeal was made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri during his visit to the market to offer condolences and support following a recent fire.
Governor Fintiri announced the formation of a committee tasked with assessing the damage and identifying affected individuals, to facilitate targeted governmental support.
Expressing his sympathy, the governor encouraged the shop owners to view the incident as a divine act that could spur much-needed development. He highlighted the planned changes to upgrade the market, aimed at meeting safety standards and preventing future fire incidents.
Assuring affected traders of government assistance to mitigate their losses, Governor Fintiri voiced his concern about the economic implications of such disasters. He reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing long-term solutions to prevent such occurrences.
During an earlier briefing, Ali Kachalla, Chairman of the Gamzaki Traders Association, and Umaru Sarkin Kasuwa, the market leader, both expressed gratitude for the governor’s continued support and promised to back his administration’s efforts in remodeling the market.
