Civil Society in Malaria control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) in Adamawa state has organised a media briefing on the Global Fund Malaria Community-lead Monitoring project in the state.
In his welcome address, the Adamawa state chairman ACOMIN, Honourable Martin Banga Mailanga said they have recorded success in the implementation of the project in the past four 4 years of its existence.
Mr Martin also used the occasion to thank the Adamawa state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for providing an enabling environment for the project to achieve the desired objectives.
During her presentation, the Adamawa state Program Officer, Civil Society in Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition in Nigeria ACOMIN, Mrs Lauretha Charles hinted that the National Malaria strategic Plan (2014-2020) presented a very determined plan to commence a transition from malaria control to malaria elimination.
She also advocated for employment of more women in health facilities to allow for more women especially in the rural areas to have equal access to medical centres.
Abdulmumini Abubakar, Executive Director CODI, and Aminu Ahmed Chiroma, Executive Director, Pastoral Resolve highlighted that more people are now having access to health facilities in the state as a result of regular monitoring and evaluation of the health facilities and have sensitized women in using insecticide mosquito treated nets and also provide a balanced diet meals to their infants for healthy growth.
The Theme of the project is Promoting and Celebrating Community Contributions to Health in the light of the recently Commemorated World Malaria Day and beyond.
