Families of Fallen Heroes tackled Gov’t in Nas FM’s ‘Morning Grill’.

By Zakariyya Aliyu Gwaram

As Nigeria honours Fallen Heroes of Nigerian Armed Forces, Callers on Nas FM current affairs programme “Morning Grill” decried the reality facing the families of fallen heroes of Nigerian Armed forces.

In the aftermath of their reactions,Nas FM reporter Zakariyya Aliyu Gwaram had exclusive interview with some callers who narrates their ugly experiences.

Although, present administration already announced inclusion of families of the fallen heroes and members of the Nigerian Legion to benefit of it’s Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme.

In his opinion,Alh Musa Logo son to retired Captain Babajide Johnson who was amongst early soldiers deployed to Mubi in early 1970s,and retired 1983 after serving meritoriously said, the narratives will continue to be negative long as government will not consider establishing the families of fallen heroes, to giving gifts of cash and incentives.

In her response,Mrs. Helen Zirra a widow that lost her husband in active service while leading a team of police officers to Gombi on national assignment during elections 18 years ago revealed her family experience as pathetic, alleging that selfish public servants use their plight to enrich themselves.

She noted that public servants and government must be sincere in addressing their plight, calling on public servants to do the right thing before reality caught off with them.

Mrs. Helen Zirra who is also a retired civil servant has served Adamawa State as hospital assistant from 1979 to her retirement, considered the need to draw attention of health workers due to laxity in their service which required thorough dedication and was not so in their time as they served with “missionary spirits” ,she said.

Expectedly, families of fallen heroes and legionaries are not suppose to face some of this hardships hence, the need for government at all level to consider finding lasting solution for the challenges families of those who paid the ultimate price are going through.
