Governor Fintiri reiterates working with FOA towards Food Security in Adamawa.

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed determination to uphold collaboration with Food And Agricultural Organization (FAO) to address food insecurity in the state and support peace building initiative between farmers and herdsmen for all year round Agricultural production.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri who was represented by his Chief of Staff (CoS) Dr. Edger Amos, made this known when he granted audience to FAO representative in Nigeria and ECOWAS Dominque Koffy, at the Government House Yola.

He noted that food insecurity is the most pressing security issue everybody is talking about pointing out that absence of food security exacerbate other security issues.

Governor Fintiri expressed readiness of  Adamawa State to food security and appreciated the FAO for stepping in to assist the state in that regard.

He revealed that his administration has placed tremendous attention on Agriculture and will love to strengthen collaboration with the FAO to achieve it’s aims and objective in the sector.

Earlier, while unveiling his mission and his team to the Government House, the FAO country representative,Dominic Koffy informed the Governor that he was in the state to strengthen collaboration with Government and the people to address the challenges of food insecurity.

He revealed that research has shown that West Africa has around 47 million of persons in food insecurity out of which analysis indicated that Nigeria’s food insecurity gulp around 26.5 million of person in food insecurity.

According to him FAO is putting in efforts to support the federal and state Government to address the situation.

He disclosed that his visit was to listened to the Government and the people in order to have first hand information of what the government and the people need to help the FAO have a better plan for the year 2024.

He was optimistic the move will stimulate peace through improved Agricultural activities.
