The Public Hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage,Northeast, took place Thursday at the government house, Yola.

The public hearing is expected to provide data that will enable favourable negotiations between the government and interest group.

Government and Interest groups unanimously agreed that compilation of the right data will be critical in determining the minimum wage.

In his opening remark, Chairman of the Committee, and President Nigerian Labour Congress, Comr. Joe Ajero decried the hunger experience by the masses and maintained that the government has the deliberate decision to address the minimum wage challenge.

Aside from the public hearing, He revealed the preferred measures to gather accurate information that includes market survey and public consultations.

In his address,Adamawa state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is represented by the state deputy governor, Prof. Kaletapwa G Farauta describes Northeast as family and the moment difficult for the common man, hence the need for congent deliberation.

The deputy governor appeals to Governors of Northeast state of unrelenting pursue to bring succour to the masses.

Farauta equally recognised the participation of Bauchi state governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed as vital to the purpose of the gathering.

Bauchi state governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammed and Member of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage assures review of salaries and wages,also pronounced the need to review revenue sharing formula as well lament the unfavourable Renumeration as issues that need to be addressed.

Some of the issues identified to contribute to the hardship faced by Nigerians are inflationary trends, which work against the earnings of the people, and Gross National Product depleted by insecurity and withdrawal of fuel subsidy.

The Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage is expected to compile data and findings to submit for onward deliberation and implementation a new minimum wage to address current hardships.
