In keeping with his electoral pledge, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commenced the distribution of a N50,000 grant to 10,000 recipients. During a ceremony at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, he highlighted that the initiative, known as the Fintiri Business Wallet, marks a crucial step in the government’s efforts to enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of its citizens and ensure broad-based economic growth.
Governor Fintiri, addressing the diverse group of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) beneficiaries, emphasized the government’s recognition of the critical role these small businesses play in community development, innovation, job creation, and the wider economic prosperity of the state.
He pointed out that this financial support is rooted in the government’s deep commitment to reducing poverty and enabling entrepreneurs to succeed in a challenging business environment. The goal is to spur these micro-business owners into expanding their operations, boosting their productivity, and elevating their businesses to new levels.
Fintiri stressed that these grants are more than just financial aid; they are strategic investments in the future economic success of Adamawa State. He encouraged the recipients to invest the funds smartly in their ventures and view this assistance as a springboard for innovation, creativity, and business growth, emphasizing that their success is vital to the state’s prosperity.
The Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, James Iliya, praised the Fintiri Business Wallet for its extensive reach across the state and its role in fulfilling the Governor’s campaign promise, which he believes will significantly enhance the state’s economy.
Haj Aisha Baja Bello, head of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency PAWECA, celebrated the selection of beneficiaries from all 226 wards of the state, acknowledged the Governor’s achievements, and encouraged recipients to use this opportunity to become productive and prudent entrepreneurs.
Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, Speaker of the State Assembly, in his message, lauded the Governor’s vision and urged continued support for the underprivileged.
Representing the beneficiaries, Eunice Kiliyobas thanked Governor Fintiri for his commitment to empowerment and assured him of their prudent use of the resources.
