International Day for Universal Access to Information:Adamawa State

As the world marks the international day for universal access to information, the Adamawa State Ministry of Information and Strategy took it upon itself to propagate awareness of universal access to information.

The ministry described the day as a crucial reminder to the significance of access to information to both journalists and the public.

Access of information also plays a vital role in developing democracy and equality,it’s necessary for making informed decisions,engaging in democratic government and increasing openess which aid citizens access to knowledge about her they are being governed.

While making her speech at tje gate of Government house,Adamawa.The Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy,Adamawa state, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, said access to information builds foundation to fight corruption,further emphasising that it’s essential to journalists in order to give the public the right topics of interest.

According to Mrs. Kofulto access to information enables journalists to seek and receive information, making the right to universal access bound up with the right to freedom.

Responding, on behalf of governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the chief of staff Mr. Edgar Amos said the day is crucial as it’s significant for democracy.

Every 28 September is used to commemorate universal access to information in order to promote transparency, accountability, and good governance.
