Adamawa state Governor says Police and Army are not enemies and will continue to work together for the peace and progress of the Adamawa and by extension Nigeria.

The Governor made the statement during a meeting with security chiefs following the fracas on Tuesday night between Army and Police personnel in Yola, the state capital.

Governor Fintiri blamed the incident that unsettled the public in Adamawa state on overzealousness on the part of the personnel of the security agencies.

According to the governor, both sides suffered casualties as one policeman and one soldier lost their lives in the clash which also left several other personnel sustaining different degrees of injuries.

Nonetheless, Fintiri said he received assurances from both Police and Army during the state High Command Strategic Security that both camps would never again be involved in such an embarrassing clash, which has caused wide condemnation and cast the personnel as undisciplined.

He further appealed for accommodation and tolerance among security agencies describing the incident as unacceptable at this time of peace building.
