ADSU Lecturer Sends to Prison for Alledged Sexual Assault

A lecturer with Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi, Danjuma Garandi has been remanded in prison custody for alleged sexual assault of a female secondary school leaver.

Garandi who is the examination officer of the department of geography allegedly molested the lady at his office in the school premises.

Speaking to our correspondent, the image maker of the state police command SP Sulaiman Nguroje said the incident was first taken to the court without police involvement.

Nguroje said when his attention was drawn to the case he enquired from the DPO of the area and was told that the case was first taken to the court without a police report but the court reverted to the police for a detailed investigation.

He said the police investigation report indicted the lecturer for attempting to have a carnal knowledge of the girl and based on the police report the court remanded the lecturer in Mubi correctional facility.

Reacting to an SMS message sent to his mobile phone number, the vice chancellor of Adamawa State University, Dr. Steven Lagu said he is constrained to comment on the issue as it is currently in court.

“The matter is in court, so I’m constrained to make any statement on it. Thanks a million,” Dr Lagu said.

A magistrate court II, Mubi has remanded the lecturer in prison custody over alleged sexual molestation of the lady.
