In a recent gathering at the Government House in Yola, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State encouraged traditional leaders to promote peaceful coexistence within their jurisdictions.
The meeting, which was attended by First Class Emirs and Chiefs, served as an occasion for the traditional leaders to extend their congratulations to Governor Fintiri following his Supreme Court victory. The Supreme Court had, on the preceding Tuesday, affirmed Governor Fintiri’s win in the 2023 election against the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hajiya Aishatu Dahiru Binani.
Expressing his pleasure over the visit, Governor Fintiri urged the leaders to champion peace and unity. He assured them of the government’s ongoing support for security personnel and vigilante groups.
Governor Fintiri also called for reconciliation post the 2023 elections, highlighting that the Supreme Court’s decision was a triumph for the citizens of Adamawa who had shown robust support for his reelection. He reiterated his pledge to impartiality and to fostering development across the state, urging collective efforts toward Adamawa’s advancement.
The delegation was led by the Emir of Mubi, Alh Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, representing Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, who expressed contentment with the Governor’s legal success. He offered prayers for Governor Fintiri’s guidance, envisioning Adamawa as a model for other states, and assured him of their steadfast support and loyalty.
