Adamawa state chapter of the Nigeria union of local government employees NULGE on Friday disbursed the monthly welfare package to some local government retirees for the month of September 2022.

Declaring the event open, the state deputy President Nigeria Union of local government employees NULGE, who doubles as the Chairman Welfare payment committee, Comrade Stephen Agontara stated that the aim of the scheme is to cushion the effects associated with retirement after serving their fatherland successfully.

Comrade Agontara thanked the Adamawa state governor; Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the prompt salary payment which he said facilitated the monthly welfare payment regularly.

He therefore, advised the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously for the betterment of their families.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to NAS FM NEWS expressed joy over the kind gesture being done to them at this trying moment and promised to use the money for which it was meant for.

The local government welfare scheme is an initiative of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Emloyees NULGE Adamawa state Chapter that generates funds through the monthly staff contributions through deductions from the salaries.

Every month about two million Naira is being disbursed to the retired local government staff spread across some local government areas of the state.
