Management of Federal College of Education Yola has distributed food palliative to students living within the campus. This was part of efforts to reduce the hardships faced by its students occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal of the federal government.
The palliative distribution was chaired by the provost of the College Alhaji Muhammad Degereji at the College premises.
Speaking after the flagging off of the food palliative distribution to the students, the provost Alhaji Muhammad Degereji noted that the removal of fuel subsidy has negatively affected many lives, which informed the decision of the college to initiate students support program, to help the students have good atmosphere of learning especially as they prepare for the examinations.
He added that it is through the collective efforts of the management and staff of the college that the initiative was realized for food palliative and also procurement of school buses to ease transportation for both the staff and the students of the college for free.
Also speaking, the Dean Department of Sciences of the college, Dr Abubakar Bello, appreciated the efforts of the management of the college for the gesture, describing it as uncommon.
The representative of the students, who benefited from the gesture Joy Anjello, expressed their joy and thanked the management of the college for the support.
About seven million Naira was spent to provide one thousand five hundred cartons of noodles distributed to all N.C.E one to three students at the campus dormitory.
