Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pledged the state’s support for the Nigerian Police in their efforts to combat crime in both Adamawa and surrounding areas.

This commitment was voiced during a visit from the state’s new Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankwambo, and his team, who were at the government house in Yola for a courtesy meeting.

Governor Fintiri highlighted the parallel yet aligned missions of the government and the Nigerian Police in securing the nation. He reminisced positively about his collaboration with the previous Commissioner of Police in reducing crime rates significantly in the state.

Fintiri affirmed the state government’s readiness to continue supporting the Adamawa State police command in its crime-fighting endeavors.

He also acknowledged the enthusiasm of the new commissioner, CP Dankwambo, suggesting a strategic review of the security framework to boost its effectiveness. The governor pledged unwavering support to the new police chief, as has been customary, and urged the media to exercise caution in their reporting to avoid inciting unrest.

CP Dankwambo, expressing gratitude for the governor’s hospitality, emphasized the historic nature of his visit and assured his commitment to security and loyalty to the governor. He appealed for continued support to navigate potential security challenges effectively.

Outlining his strategic plans, CP Dankwambo aims to uphold and enhance proactive measures established by his predecessors, focusing on eliminating criminal groups like the Shila boys and reinforcing community policing through collaboration with local vigilante groups, hunters, and stakeholders.

The outgoing Commissioner of Police, now AIG Zone Three, Afolabi Babalola, introduced CP Dankwambo to the governor, marking the transition as per tradition. AIG Babalola thanked Governor Fintiri and the Adamawa community for their unwavering support and assistance in security matters.
