The former Speakers of the State House of Assembly of Nigeria held a meeting this Saturday under the leadership of former Governor of Plateau State,Senator Simon Bako Lalong at the Banquet Hall Government House Yola on 17th February, 2024.
The meeting was hosted by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the first time in the state.
Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri describes the gathering as not only a forum but leadership of the largest law-making organ for the government across all states of the federation,Equally, a leadership that over the years,tremendously protect democracy from imminent slide at critical period.
Fintiri lauds the contribution of the former speakers saying their efforts have no doubt impact the strength of states and by extension the nations democracy.
The governor urged the gathering to also work towards combating insecurity and engendered peaceful polity while putting effort into dousing tension in the lands and dealing with all triggers of conflict.
The leader of the delegation, Senator Simon Lalong said over the years,the conference has produced Governors,Deputy Governors and Members of the National Assembly who have been on the vanguard of championing good governance and laws in Nigeria. 
The Conference has been in existence since 1999 with the former Governor of Rivers State Rotimi Amechi as its pioneer chairman.
