Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, has reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to placing education at the heart of its development strategy, describing it as the “bedrock of progress.”
Receiving a delegation from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) at the Government House in Yola, Professor Farauta emphasized that the Fintiri administration sees education as the cornerstone of national growth, remarking that “if we want to build a house of success, education is the foundation.”
She stressed that the administration continues to prioritize education, stating, “An investment in education is not just an investment in today, but in the future of generations yet unborn.”
Commending USAID for its invaluable contributions, particularly in the basic education sector, Professor Farauta urged the agency to expand its teacher capacity-building programs to cover all 21 local government areas, saying, “A tree is only as strong as its roots, and our teachers are the roots of quality education.”
She further emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring school safety, praising development partners for their tireless efforts, while calling for continued collaboration to keep the momentum, noting that “when hands join, even the heaviest load becomes lighter.”
In his remarks, Dr. Nuhu Ibrahim, leader of the USAID delegation and the agency’s Education Officer, outlined their mission, stating that USAID is focused on supporting Adamawa’s education and public financial management agendas.
Dr. Ibrahim commended the state’s strides in budget planning and school safety, as well as the harmonization of educational tools.
He also applauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for making Adamawa the “trailblazer” in adopting the National Teaching Qualification Development Framework, assuring that USAID will continue to stand by the state in enhancing the safety of school children.
