ADSPHCDA: Appeal support during Third round of National Immunization-Plus 2023

The Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Suleiman Saidu Bashir, has appealed to parents, caregivers, traditional and religious leaders to support the agency during its third round of National immunization plus days 2023.

Dr Bashir made the appeal, during an interactive session with the media on the upcoming National immunization plus days NIPDs activities in the State.

According to Dr Suleman Saidu Bashir, the exercise which is scheduled for 14th to 17th December, 2023, targets over one million children of zero to five years across the 21 local government areas of the State.

Dr Bashir, recalls that in the first and second round of the exercise, the agency has successfully vaccinated over 1.32 and 1.34 million children which represents 104 and 102 percent respectively, as against the targeted 1.3 million children.

The chairman, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, who said though, Nigeria has not recorded any case of polio for over seven years, equally explained that the reason for the exercise is to identify those who are not fully vaccinated, in order to receive the full doses of the vaccine, particularly those coming into the country from other countries of the world.

The leader of the State primary Health Care Development Agency, who said the vaccination team has encountered some challenges during the first and second round of the exercise, also explained that with the support of the media, traditional and religious leaders, the agency will carry out a successful exercise in the third round, which is the last National immunization plus days in the State.

Dr Suleman Saidu Bashir, who said the vaccine is safe and secured, equally solicits for support from parents, caregivers, traditional and religious leaders to ensure a hitch free exercise across the State.
