Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture, says farmers across the state are recording high yields courtesy of the intervention of NG-Cares Fadama Area II.
The State Commissioner of Agriculture, Professor, David Jatau, revealed this at the presentation of awards to NG – Cares Adamawa State and the Coordinator, Fadama Result Area II, Dr. Stephen Mshelia, Albit and Agro Consult in Yola.
The commissioner represented by the Ministry’s permanent secretary, Mrs. Mrs. Dorathy Augustine, lauded Albit and Agro Consult for collaborating with the Famada II project, saying farmers are feeling the impact of the partnership.
On his part, Dr. Yusuf Balla of Albit and Agro Consult, says the company decided to award the entire NG-Cares team and Dr. Stephen Mshelia, for supporting and promoting certified seeds produced by the company.
He said after the NG-Cares started patronizing Albit’s seeds and fertilizers for farmers in the state, the company has expanded its production from 5 to 21 hectares now.
He explained that courtesy of the partnership, the company has employed 49 Adamawa youths, adding that the quality seeds the state government is buying for farmers played pivotal roles in having higher yields.
The State Cares Coordinator, Mr. Kwaji Duguri, thanked the company for acknowledging the contribution of NG-Cares to its success and gave an assurance that the government would continue to promote homegrown products.
Receiving the awards, the state Fadama Result Area II Coordinator, Dr. Stephen Mshelia appreciated the state ministry of agriculture for its support, just as he commended Albit and Agro consult for making farmers smile through its certified seeds and organic fertilizers.
Dr. Stephen noted that the state government is satisfied with the products of Albit Consult, and would sustain the collaboration with the company to boost the capacity of farmers in the state.
