The Adamawa State House of Assembly has read for the second time a Bill for a law provides for the establishment of the Adamawa transport Board and to provide for management, operation of urban intra-State, Inter-state and international transport service.
Member representing Maiha constituency, Ahmed Jingi Belel moved the motion at the Tuesday legislative proceedings.
While reading the general principles of the bill, the Member representing Maiha constituency Ahmed Jingi Belel said the bill if passed into law would improve the internal revenue generation of Adamawa State.
According to him, the bill would make partnerships with public and private entities to ensure monitoring and compliance in the transport sector.
Contributing, the Member representing Mayo-Belwa Constituency, Mahmud Musa Kallamu who was the immediate past commissioner of transport said the bill is long overdue.
Consequently, the House read for the second time a bill for law to harmonize the allowances of local government Finance Officers with their State counterpart, sponsored by member representing Maiha constituency Ahmed Jingi Belel.
Also at the sitting, a motion was moved by the member representing Guyuk constituency Mr Sunday Peter on the need to desilt drainages along Galadima Aminu Way and prevention of Dumping of refuse in the drainages and encourage people on monthly sanitations
The house noted with concern over the State of Dumping of refuse in the State, mandated the chairman on legislative compliance and ministry of environment to take strong measures on stopping people from dumping of drainages.
The Majority leader, Kate Raymond Mamuno suggested that the house should create advocacy and awareness on the use of drainages.
The Speaker, Bathiya Wesley concluded to communicate the resolution of the house to the appropriate authority.
