A 24-year-old woman, Jemima Shetima Balami, tragically ended her own life in Adamawa state, following the termination of her relationship by her boyfriend. Jemima, a second-year diploma student of Mass Communication at Federal Polytechnic Mubi, was undertaking an industrial attachment at Adamawa State Television (ATV) in Yola when the incident occurred.

According to reports, Jemima consumed a substance believed to be rat poison, leading to her death. The incident took place after she visited her boyfriend, who is reportedly a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola. It is believed that she was unable to cope with the breakup.

Originally from Garkida in Gombi local government area, Jemima was residing in Vinikilang near ATV Yola for her attachment. She was the only daughter of her father, who sadly had to report her death to the police.

Additionally, another source mentioned the troubled relationship with her boyfriend as a possible factor. Nguroje mentioned that Jemima visited her boyfriend and was asked to end the relationship, which reportedly led her to take poison in despair.
