The 2023 flood disaster in Adamawa State has been adjudged the worst in the recent times.
This is because property including residential houses, farm lands, domestic animals and other valuables were lost to the disaster.
These were revealed during a commiseration visit to Gereng and other affected villages in Girei local government areas by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
The governor represented by the commissioner Land and survey,Joab Sahma expressed concern over the devastating effects of the flood and appealed to residents to continue to adhere to the advise of exparts.
He said though flood is a natural phenomenon, if residents adhere strictly to warning by authorities the effects will be minimal on people.
He therefore appealed to the affected communities to relocate to safer lands to avoid further distraction.
The governor assured the flood victims the his administration is doing everything to ameliorate their suffering as the result of the disaster.

Commended the governor for identifying with them at this trying moment .
He said although is not easy for the residents to vacate their ancestral home but it has now become necessary for them to leave.
He said 2023 flood is only second to one occurred in 1948 where a lot of lives and property were lost but thank God this there is no loss of life.
He called on his subjects to continue to cooperate with the state government in its effort to providing meaningful life to the citizenry.
Various residents of the affected communities who spoke during visit expressed their satisfaction with the governor’s concern and assured him of their readiness to comply with exparts advise.
They appealed to the government to provide an alternative land that may not be far from the river.
Villages affected include, Kangling, Koh, Ndikajam, Tabongo, Goron, Dagiyo Noine, among others.
