Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture to ensure Food security.

Adamawa state Ministry of Agriculture has expressed commitment towards ensuring food security in the state.

Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor David Jatau Finchiwa gave the indication in Yola, ahead of this year’s World Food Day.

Professor Finchiwa explained that the Ministry in collaboration with the Federal Government is working round the lock towards averting possible hunger next year, as being widely envisaged.

He maintained that Adamawa state houses over four point two million population among whom eighty percent is predominantly engaged in farming.

The Commissioner who noted the likelihood of food shortage next year urged farmers to prudently manage their harvested farm produce to avert the envisaged famine.

Mr. Jatau Finchiwa also encouraged farmers to vigorously partake in dry season farming in order to boost food security in the state.

According to him, the Ministry is committed to exploring mechanism that will guarantee availability of food and avert food crises.

He appealed to the farmers and herders to exercise restraint in dealing with each other to in order to maintain peace.
