Following the burnt of the electric transformer at Shagari Quarters in Yola LGA,the management of Yola Electricity Distribution Company YEDC provides a brand new 500kva transformer to the area.
The Technical Engineer YEDC Mohd Lawan said the new 500kva transformer can serve the community and beyond,insisting that activities of vandals and illegal connections must be apprehended to ensure maximum benefits of the transformer.
Speaking while interacting with the community, the business manager YEDC Maryam Gabdo noted that the management responded quickly to the community outcry and installed a new transformer because the area is metred and and vending or purchase of units is high. While also discouraging illegal activities, she encouraged other communities to emulate Shagari Quaters.
Responding on behalf of the community,the secretary of the community, D.S Tumba, commended the swift response from the YEDC. He was optimistic about safeguarding the transformer similarly, undermined activities of vandals due to security vigilantes supported by the community.
The Yola Electricity Distribution Company said it remains resolute to overhaul electrical equipments, provides new transformers where necessary in order to ensure uninterrupted service to customers.
To this end, the communication officer of YEDC Kingsley Ekenemme said the power company will not be hesitant to punish perpetrators.
