RESIDENTS of Gaya, Mubi South Local Government area, Adamawa State, have been groaning over the lack of power supply that has affected businesses in the area for over two months.
The residents, in an interview with NAS FM News, lamented that they had been experiencing blackouts since when their transformer got destroyed.
In Nigeria, access to a reliable and stable supply of electricity has been a major challenge for both urban and rural dwellers for decades.
The worrying condition is the same in some areas of Mubi, as some residents of Gaya Area, including Mohammed and Yakubu Hassan, lamented that the erratic electricity supply had compounded the hardship faced by the community as many households and small-scale businesses are suffering the effect, especially during the month of Ramadan Kareem.
When contacted, the management of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company, Mubi Zonal office, pointed out that the poor power supply to the Gaya area and other communities in Mubi was a result of the low supply the distribution company was getting from the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
Also, they promised the residents of the area YEDC determination to restore their power supply in no distance time.
