The Integrated Management of Childhood Ilness IMCI has contributed to mitigating mortality and morbidity in children under five years while poverty and lack of access to essential healthcare services remain contributing factors to the menace.

The Algorithm for the Management of Childhood Illness is a mobile application that provides real time and context-specific support for clinical decisio-making.
Dr. Paul Margwa Director, planning Research and Statistics, Adamawa state Primary Healthcare Development Agency described the application as an improvement in terms of quality management in health care settings.
The project ICT officer Muazu Muazu opined that the training on using the mobile app was impactful, advising health officers to embrace the use of technological initiatives in order to ease and improve health services.
The Integrated Management of Childhood Illness IMCI has proven effective as the under-five mortality rate in children is at 63 deaths per 1000,indicating improvement in Adamawa.
The well-being of children is critical to the advancement of any nation. Therefore, government must prioritise any initiative that guarantees access to quality healthcare.
The biggest hindrance to the project’s sustainability is financing while the state should look for partners to ensure the results are sustained.
