Independence Day: Gov Fintiri Pardons 3 inmates

Adamawa state governor Rt Hon. Ahmadu Umar Fintiri on recommendation of the Advisory Committee on Prerogatory of Mercy, and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 212(i) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended pardoned three inmates, Zaro Boniface,Luka Grastone and Alh Jauro Banyi who were serving prison terms in Numan Correctional facility.

Similarly, the Adamawa State governor has approved communal of the death sentence on one prisoner,Jibrilla Usman from custodial centre Yola.

This was revealed in a statement signed by the press secretary to the governor, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou.

According to the statement, the act of gesture by Goverrnor Fintiri was in commemoration of the 2023 independence Day celebration.

The state also says the release and communal to the death sentence are to take immediate effect as all other legal formalities have been concluded with the Correctional institutions.
