Governor of Adamawa state Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on thursday in Girei local government flagged off construction of twenty-one model schools across the twenty-one local government areas of the state.
According to the governor,the school will be fully equipped, which provides the right environment for modern learning at the basic level from nursery,primary, and junior secondary school.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed that the projects spanning three hectares each will gulped fourteen billion, nine hundred and ninety-three million, four hundred and ninety-six thousand, two hundred and eighty-eight naira, fourty-seven kobo and funded through collaboration by state and local governments of Adamawa.
The move is also expected to make local councils proactive, equally motivated by the government rural developmental drive and Communities needs assessment that aligned with the present administration 8 point agenda.
Governor Fintiri said without exaggeration, the socio-economic progress of every society rests squarely on the quality of education provided to children.
He also stated that education is second only to security in his administration agenda which aligned with Sustainable Development Goals as well as Universal Basic Education Commission law.
The Adamawa State governor also appreciated the collective investment in the sector and as well revealed government plan to roll out international scholarship to 200 students in Engineering, Artificial intelligence and ICT, urging bornafide indigenes to apply when the opportunity materialise.
In their separate remarks, State Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella,State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdussalam Gidado who is also the Chairman Song Local Government Council and Ibrahim Yayaji Commissioner for local government affairs all affirmed that the initiatives will drastically reduce out of school children thereby enhancing human per capita development in the state.
Goodwill messages were delivered by Chairman of Girei Local Council, Juda Amisa, the District Head of Girei Dr. Ahmed Mustafa Ibrahim, and Abubakar Abdullahi, the state legislator for the area.
