Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri hope the military will consolidate on the gains so far made in curbing the activities of criminals who are hell bent on causing unrest and hardship to the law abiding citizens of Adamawa State.
The Governor stated this during the 2023 Nigerian Army West African Social Activities (WASA) organizedby Headquarters the 23 Armoured Brigade Yola on Saturday.
He commended the contributions of the Nigerian Army to achieving peace in the State assuring that the state government will continue to call for sincere commitment of all stakeholders to ensure peaceful coexistence.
Governor Fintiri said his administration will continue towork with relevant stakeholders and the security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of crime in the state are dealt with headlong.
He expressed the hope that the WASA among other events will be sustained and improved upon because of its immense benefits to both the barracks community as well as the state.
The Brigade Commander 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brigadier Paul Kefas Zawaya said WASA creates atmosphere for relaxation to mark the end of the year’s activities and to usher into the activities of the following year.
He traced the history of military regimental event to as far back as the second World War when the Nigerian Army fought as part of the large west Africa frontier force.
Brigadier Zawaya added that that period, indigenious Nigerian Army personnel celebrated their cultural heritage at the end of every year.
