Gov Fintiri Inaugurates Counterpart Committee To Boost Dry Season Farming

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state inaugurates members of the State Working Committee of National Agricultural Growth Scheme on Agro Public Programmes.

The governor, who was represented by Secretary to State Government,at Government house Yola,Auwal Tukur, said the committee is established to boost agriculture and socio-economic activities.

He mentioned amongst the responsibilities of the committee to include mobilisation and sensitization of farmers in local governments across the state.

Others are capitalization, allocations, and supervision of inputs and agricultural activities.

The committee is, therefore, a prerequisite for the state to participate in the federal government Dry season Programme.

Chairman of the committee, Professor David Jatau,Commissioner for Agriculture, Adamaqa state, while expressing confidence in the committee, disclosed that the committee will also work to fill the gap in agricultural investment for maximum result.

The committee chairman noted that the federal government effort is to ensure reaching the small farmers in local communities.

Professor Jatau appreciates Adamawa state government and further indicates that plan is on the way to issue out facilities for dry season farming by the state government as counterpart efforts to complement federal government desire to ensure food availability.

The committee includes, Coordinator of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security,Permanent Secretary office of the SSG, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps Cattle Rangers Unit,National Evaluation Commission, representatives of Microfinance Banks,All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria,Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria,Focal Persons of relevant bodies among others.
