Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreeq Abeodun Lagbaja, has commissioned the projects of the Remodeled 23 Brigade Warrant Officers and Sergeant officers Mess as well as the Soldiers Club, of the Nigerian Army in Yola.
The projects under the sportsmanship of the 23 brigade commander Major General Paul Kefas zawaya, were commissioned at Gibson Jalo military base in Yola.
Represented by the General Commanding officer 3 Division of the Nigerian Army Major General Abdussalam Abubakar, the Chief of Army Staff Taoreeq Lagbaja, lauded the efforts of the commander and his men for their commitment to duty in ensuring peace and security of lives and properties in Adamawa state and for making the projects a reality, saying that the welfare of the army staff, tops his priorities.
While commending the federal government under President Bola Tinubu of his unwavering support to security personnel, Leuteanant General Tourid Lagbaja said he is confident that the restoration of the dignified environment for the officers leisure, will minimize the need to seek relaxation outside the cantonment and enhance their personal security.
He therefore charged the officers to cherish the projects as a symbol of motivation and maintain the facility for their enjoyment and to continue to extend the hands of fellowship to other security agencies in the state for the benefit of all.
Earlier speaking the overseer of the projects who is the Cantonment Maintenance Officer of the 23 Brigade Major I C Ashu Uju, said the two structures were compled within the period of June to December 2023, noting that before the rehabilitation phase, the mess and soldiers club and other structures such as bathrooms and toilets were obsolete with archaic features, faded paintings and evident fault of electricity, appreciating the chief of army staff for awarding the project to the Nigerian army engineers.
Some of the structures and edifices remodeled include, senior and seargent officers mess, soldiers club, bathrooms and toilets among others.
