In a bold act that shines a beacon of hope, the Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has granted a full pardon to two inmates serving sentences at the Yola Old Medium Security Custodial Centre and the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Jada, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to justice and compassion.

The fortunate beneficiaries of the Governor’s clemency are Chai Yerima and Mohammed Bapeto. This transformative decision springs from the recommendations of the Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, in accordance with Section 212 (1) (d) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

With this pardon, the chains of their sentences have been completely broken, allowing both inmates to embrace their newfound freedom without delay.

In his words of encouragement, Governor Fintiri urged the pardoned individuals to seize this rare opportunity to reform, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the law, pursuing rehabilitation and education, and striving to become productive members of society. He further implored them to rekindle connections with their families and communities, expressing his heartfelt hope that they will embrace this second chance with gratitude and determination.

This act of clemency not only demonstrates Governor Fintiri’s dedication to upholding human rights but also reflects his belief in the transformative power of mercy, reinforcing the idea that every individual deserves a chance to rise anew.
