The State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development has put the brakes on all public and private schools, instructing them to shut their doors until September 30, 2024.
Dr. Umar Garba Pella, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, issued this directive in response to a flood warning from the Nigeria Meteorological Agency.
The agency’s forecast paints a grim picture, identifying Adamawa State as a prime candidate for severe flooding this September.
In light of this, the Ministry’s edict is clear: schools that have already opened must close immediately, while those yet to commence are advised to hold off until September 30.
The Ministry stresses that this order takes effect right away and expresses its regret for any disruption it may cause to schools, parents, guardians, proprietors, and students.
