On Monday 16th September, 2024, a non-profit organization, Connected Development (CODE), successfully concluded its Milestone Three program in Adamawa State.
The initiative focused on improving education across 10 Local Government Areas, including Yola North, Yola South, Girei, Numan, Demsa, Mayo Belwa, Hong, Song, Gombi, and Fufore.
The program began with an orientation for School Monitoring Teams (SMTs) and visits to five schools in each LGA. These visits included mini town hall meetings with local communities, addressing educational challenges and fostering dialogue on the future of education in the state.
On the second day, CODE held strategic meetings with mothers and women’s groups. These stakeholders committed to establishing community reading centers and leading awareness campaigns to boost school enrollment, empowering local women to drive positive change in their communities.
The program concluded with a mega town hall meeting, where representatives from all 10 LGAs collaborated to address the educational issues identified. CODE’s grassroots approach ensured that every concern was heard and solutions mapped out.
To sustain this momentum, CODE also launched a bi-monthly radio program aimed at promoting education advocacy, sharing updates, and keeping the community engaged.
