The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a budget variation of N348,110,407.40 for the perimeter fencing of the Adamawa State Geographical Information System (AGIS). This decision raises the total project cost to N692,752,573.40.
The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Niedo Geoffrey Kofulto, announced this development while briefing journalists after the sixth State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chambers, Government House Yola. Kofulto explained that the adjustment was necessary due to the current economic situation and the critical importance of securing the AGIS office.
In addition to the fencing approval, the Council has also sanctioned a state-wide monthly sanitation exercise, to be held on the last Saturday of each month. Citizens are urged to comply with this new regulation.
The Council also reviewed public health outcomes, noting significant success in curtailing a missile disease outbreak that claimed over 40 lives in two Local Government Areas (LGAs). Kofulto attributed this achievement to the proactive measures implemented by Governor Fintiri, his administration, and medical stakeholders. She emphasized the need for continued vigilance and adherence to public health measures to prevent future outbreaks.
