Adamawa Government set up Committee to strengthen Transparency and Accountability.

Adamawa State Government has inaugurated a Steering Committee for Open Government Partnership OGP to encourage accountability and transparency in governmental affairs.

The Secretary to the state government, Barrister Auwal D Tukur in his capacity and mandate of office inaugurated the committee. He maintained that the committee is critical for the progress of the state.

Tukur said,Adamawa State is gaining recognition on both the national and international fronts, emphasizing the importance of the OGP steering committee to sustain its momentum.

The State Commissioner of Finance, Augustina Wandamihya who was appointed Chairman of the steering committee affirmed that the inauguration would allow them to access numerous opportunities for government development and strengthen the relationship between the government and its citizens.

The Open Government Partnership committee’s term of reference amongst the rest include; openness in the business of government, social inclusion, budget,information sharing, contracting and creating enabling environment for ease of doing business.

Government house Correspondent Zakariyya Aliyu Gwaram reports that the committee will operate in joint stewardship with Commissioners of Finance,Women Affairs, Budget and Economic Planning as state actors and Network of Adamawa Non Governmental Organization (NANGO) an umbrella body of Civil Society Organization CSOs as non state actors.
