The Adamawa State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has mandated all public workers across ministries, boards, agencies, and government institutions to submit their educational and professional certificates.
This directive is aimed at ensuring only qualified individuals occupy positions within the state’s civil service.
Governor Fintiri, in a statement, emphasized that the measure is not a form of punishment or witch-hunting but rather a necessary step to sanitize the system and ensure fairness.
He warned that employees who fail to comply will forfeit their October salaries until they provide the required documentation.
“This exercise is meant to restore order and prevent unqualified individuals from denying opportunities to the younger generation,” the Governor stated.
Governor Fintiri further reassured workers that no one would be denied their salaries as long as they meet the deadline, which extends to the end of October. He expressed concern over ongoing system abuse, stressing the need for reform to make the civil service a place of merit and integrity.
The directive has been issued amid efforts to address loopholes that have allowed individuals to occupy positions without proper qualifications.
The announcement was made by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, on October 3, 2024.
