The zone E Vice President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr. Zare Baba has appealed to working journalists in the zone and the country at large to continue to exercise decorum in their reportage.
The Vice President, who was speaking in Gombe at a joint meeting of zones A and E of the Union, said journalism is a noble profession which is supposed to be respected by all.
The zonal Vice President said the meeting was meant to afford members the opportunity to rob minds and chart a way forward for the NUJ.
In his remarks, the zonal Vice President of Zone A, Mohammed Tukur thanked Zone E for initiating the meeting.
Declaring the meeting open, the National deputy president, Alhassan Yahya said the union under Chief Chris Isiguzo is doing
everything possible to reposition the NUJ and improve the working conditions of members.
In her speech, the National Chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim commended the initiators of the meeting and appealed to members of other zones to concede the presidency of the union to the northeast for the first time.
The NAWOJ National Chairperson said Northeast has patiently waited for this period which is a payback time.
