The National Union of Adamawa State Students (NUADS) commemorated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day with a generous act of charity, donating food and non-food items to the Government Orphanage Home and Day Care Center in Karewa, Yola, Adamawa State.
Led by the Union President, Comrade Aliyu Ibrahim Malkohi, and the Social Director, Comrade Rashida Mahmud, the delegation stated that the donation aimed to ease the burden on the orphanage, especially in light of the current economic challenges.
They called on the government, affluent individuals, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to lend a helping hand to orphans during this trying time, stressing that it’s the season to offer a lifeline to the vulnerable.
The donation package included two bags of rice, three cartons of detergent, four cartons of soap, and three cartons of Indomie noodles, among other essential items.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the orphanage’s matron, Halima Anthony expressed gratitude, thanking the students for their thoughtful gesture and pledging to make the best use of the items.
This touching initiative showcases the students’ deep-rooted commitment to uplifting their community and standing by those in need.
