The 10th meeting of the Northeast Governors Forum is currently taking place at the Bauchi Government House, where the governors are discussing urgent national issues.
According to a statement by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Adamawa State governor, the meeting aims to articulate the collective interests of the region and reaffirm a commitment to a united front capable of ensuring the safety and protection of lives and property. The forum also seeks to implement measures to alleviate the economic hardships facing the region.
The governors will review the national situation as it affects the Northeast. Forum Chairman and Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, emphasized the need to address rising food costs through economic solutions rather than palliatives, highlighting the region’s wealth and the importance of leveraging its abundant resources in partnership with the private sector.
Host Governor Senator Bala Muhammad expressed satisfaction with the meeting’s outcomes, noting that the frequency of these gatherings demonstrates the unity and direction of the region.
All six governors of the Northeast region are in attendance.
