Mentors Innovation Hub Nigeria, in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government, has facilitated the World Bank-funded Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project, aimed at empowering women, youths, and people living with disabilities in the state.
The project seeks to equip these groups with skills to help them become self-reliant.
Coordinator of the project, Mr. Olatunbosu Adeniyi, highlighted that the initiative, born from the partnership between the State Ministry of Education and Mentors Innovation Hub, is designed to pull youths out of the labor market by equipping them with modern, employable skills.
The target is to train 1,000 individuals across the 21 local councils of the state in areas such as software development and content creation.
Project Manager Mr. Cletus Oluju emphasized that the training will focus on ICT, with the goal of transforming participants into job creators.
He encouraged women, youths, and people living with disabilities to seize this golden opportunity, assuring that the three-month intensive training will leave them self-sufficient.
According to Oluju, the skills acquired would be lifetime assets, capable of significantly boosting the state’s internally generated revenue if fully utilized.
The Adamawa State government, represented by Mr. Thomas Amos, commended the Mentors Hub for complementing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s efforts in job creation.
Amos called for more collaboration from other organizations and wealthy individuals to support the initiative.
The fully funded World Bank project will soon open its website for applications, providing a platform for interested individuals to apply and follow laid-out procedures.
