As the rainy season begins, people living in the Blabiri area of Michika are dealing with significant losses due to recent flooding.
This flooding, which serves as an early warning to the state government, has damaged houses and food supplies in the community.
The Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was at the community to access the situation.
After visiting the affected areas, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the state government will try its best to help those who have lost their homes and means of making a living, even though resources are limited.
The governor expressed his sympathy and mentioned that after the rainy season, the government will look into how to prevent future floods, especially during heavy rains in the mountainous areas.
According to Fintiri,the government will not leave the situation unchecked.Therefore, efforts will be made.
He advised those living near the streams to move to safer grounds and urged everyone to be patient and alert, as floods can strike in the middle of the night, posing a risk to lives.
The flooding, caused by heavy rainfall in the mountainous region, has resulted in damage to houses, food supplies, and livelihoods in the area.
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency predicted that Adamawa is among the states to experience flooding in 2024 with Fufore, Yola-North, Yola-south, Girei, Numan, Lamurde, and Gombi LGAs listed as flood risk. 
The state government, in conjunction with the State State Emergency Management Agency, is expected to ensure that fewer lives are lost and less properties damage through adequate support to their relocation to safer grounds.
