The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, cast his net wide by participating in the African Cybersecurity Defense Forum in Kigali, Rwanda. The three-day event, aptly themed “Enhancing Cybersecurity Resilience: Safeguarding Africa’s Digital Infrastructure Against Emerging Technology Threats,” was a meeting of minds from across Africa and beyond, all with their eyes on the ball—fortifying the continent’s digital future.
Governor Fintiri, represented by his right-hand deputy, Her Excellency Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta, led the charge for Adamawa State, accompanied by Hon. Iliya James, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, and Mrs. Deborah Anthony Ngbale, the Deputy Chief of Staff.
On October 17, 2024, Prof. Farauta took the stage on behalf of the Governor, delivering a speech titled “Strengthening Cybersecurity and Advancing Digital Transformation in Adamawa State, Nigeria.” Governor Fintiri pulled no punches, laying bare his administration’s commitment to riding the wave of the digital revolution.
He stressed that protecting the state’s digital infrastructure is not just a task but a cornerstone of his development strategy.
Calling for a global handshake, Gov. Fintiri invited ICT experts from across the world and the continent to join hands with Adamawa State in building a robust cybersecurity ecosystem.
He painted a vivid picture of how collaboration would spark innovation, build a solid defense against emerging tech threats, and safeguard the state’s digital foundation.
The forum was a melting pot of top-tier cybersecurity professionals and policymakers, all with their fingers on the pulse of Africa’s digital landscape and the challenges that lie ahead.
