Yola Zone of Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has issued a fresh warning to the federal government to desperate attempts to subvert university Autonomy.
President of ASUU Yola Zone, Professor Dani Mamman, pronounced the warning during a Press briefing at the Modibbo Adama University Yola.
It could be recalled on 20th October 2022 the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, suspended it’s eight months old strike following to the court order.
To this end Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU Yola Zone, which comprises Modibbo Adama University Yola, Adamawa State University Mubi, Federal University of Gashua, Taraba State University Jalingo, University of Maiduguri and Yobe State University Damaturu, has draw the attention of the public to the desperate attempt to subvert the hard earned University autonomy by the federal government.
The President of ASUU Yola Zone, Prof Dani Mamman, says their members have been on the same salary for more than 15 years.
Consequently they urged the federal government to immediately sign and implement the Nimi Briggs Committee report which was completed after thorough and robust negotiations with the union.
The union rejects the students loan scheme which they describe as an International Monitoring Fund and World Bank to mortgage the future of the Nigerian youths and bastardize the nations educational system.
ASUU calls on all well meaning Nigerians the media, labour movements, students organizations and civil society groups to join force with the union so that government to implement their needs.
