Adamawa State government and other working partners have reinstated their commitment towards providing a safe school environment for education to continue unhindered.
The assertion was made by the Adamawa state Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development Doctor Umar Garba Pela during the commemoration of the 2024 International Day for the protection of Education from attack held at the banquet hall, government house Yola
The Commissioner noted with dismay how schools were attacked from different human angles which has lead to a huge number of out of school children in the state and Nigeria in general.
Doctor Umar used the medium to thank the Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for prompt renovation of affected schools which he said helped in ensuring that children’s education did not suffer significant setback in the state.
He also called on the state government to prioritize vocational education he will produce more job creators that will result to state’s economic prosperity.
In his opening remarks, Mr Stephen Medugu, a stakeholder in education working in emergency group said school schools it is the responsibility of all and sundry to ensure that schools are safe for conducive learning atmosphere.
Mr Medugu added that Adamawa has had it’s share of attacks on schools, however with intervention of education managers, the impact was reduced to the minimum level.
The panel of discussants from different institutions at the event highlighted some of the majors they take in other to ensure safe school and to improve teaching and learning process effectively in the state.
The International Day to protect Education from attack is held annually on September 9th to deliberate on issues that affects Education with more emphasis on attacks against the education sector in it’s entirety.
