The Adamawa State Government has expressed its profound appreciation to the people of the state for their continued support and understanding, especially during sensitive times such as the recent nationwide protests.
In a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, the government acknowledged the state’s unique position as one that maintained peace and harmony while other states grappled with losses of lives and property.
However, the state is once again faced with a potential protest, as the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) plans to embark on another round of demonstrations.
The government, citing its strong relationship with the youth and student community, emphasized that such protests may be unnecessary in Adamawa.
The statement highlighted the numerous initiatives already undertaken to support the youth, including free education, school feeding programs, payment of WAEC/NECO examination fees, scholarships, palliative donations to schools, and the provision of buses to ease transportation challenges.
Additionally, the government has made significant investments in sectors like security, health, agriculture, sports, infrastructure, and water supply for the benefit of the state’s youth and their families.
The government called on all citizens, particularly the youth, to resist the influence of individuals who may seek to disrupt the peace, urging them to continue their lawful activities.
Students were encouraged to remain in school and focus on their academic pursuits.
“Our youths are our future,” the statement concluded, reaffirming the government’s commitment to investing in the youth and maintaining trust in their potential.
